SARAH BOWKLEY

Mezzo-soprano

Welsh Mezzo-Soprano Sarah Bowkley grew up in Rhos-on-Sea, North Wales. She now resides in Birmingham where she has recently graduated her MMus in Vocal Performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

​

Sarah studies under the tutorship of Louise Crane and has recently performed in the conservatoires Spring opera 'Coraline' by Mark-Anthony Turnage as one of the ghost children. She has also recently enjoyed the opportunity to perform a scene as Geneviève from Debussy's opera Pelléas et Mélisande and as Queen Gertrude from Hamlet by Ambroise Thomas.

Prior to her time at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Sarah graduated with a Bsc in Music & Psychology from Keele University. Whilst at Keele Sarah conducted research investigating the influence of music and sound on humans abilities to imitate contagious behaviour. She then went on to research performance anxiety whilst at Birmingham Conservatoire and enjoys investigating the mind of the performer.

Sarah is currently focusing on teaching and performing and looks forward to taking to the stage to perform as Second Lady in Arcadian Opera's production The Magic Flute this Autumn.
